$550,000 Fix: Shreveport Seeks Emergency Funds for Lakefront Disaster
A subdivision on the south side of Cross Lake is dealing with a major problem today. In fact, the problem has been going on for a couple of weeks. Sources tell KEEL News there was an infrastructure collapse under several homes in the gated Willow Ridge subdivision. We were told some homes had to be evacuated because the structure was not safe.
Once resident says this problem began nearly a month ago. We don't know the specific date. Shreveport has hired a private contractor to go in an fix the problem.
How Much Will the Repairs Cost?
The administration is asking the City Council to approve an emergency declaration to fix the problem. The projected cost is $550,000 dollars. This measure is on the Council agenda for next weeks' meeting.

What Happened to the Infrastructure in one Shreveport Neighborhood?
Mayor Tom Arceneaux tells KEEL News:
There was a major collapse between two houses in a private development. We had to evacuate the homes to make emergency repairs, which we are making. Our contractor stabilized the homes and we are repairing the collapse. We anticipate that the repairs will be complete in about two more weeks. There is also some repair and clean up on the tennis courts nearby.
He adds: "Two homes and the tennis courts were involved. Happened about two weeks ago."
I drove out to the subdivision and saw yellow caution tape around 2 homes. Crews have dug a hole of about 6ft by 6ft and 6 ft deep in the front yard of one of these homes.
