Shreveport Firefighters Join Texas Flash Flood Response This Week

Louisiana is sending help to Texas to deal with devastating flooding. Folks from the Shreveport-Bossier area are sending a swift water team to Texas to assist in rescue operations from flash flooding.

How Long Will Local Crews Be in Texas?

These emergency personnel are expected to be in Texas for at least a week. They will be bring water-rescue equipment, and operational resources to help with continuing emergency response efforts in the impacted areas.

Who Is Headed to Texas to Help?

The following Louisiana Task Force 3 members have been selected for the deployment:
• Steven Dungan — Caddo Fire District 5
• Heath Sexton — Bossier City Fire Department
• Luke Sanders — Caddo Fire District 4
• Brandon St. Amant — Caddo Fire District 4
• Chris Burden — Shreveport Fire Department
• Chris Shadoin — Shreveport Fire Department
• Trey Jordan — Shreveport Fire Department
• Colt Godwin — Shreveport Fire Department

Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reese says “Louisiana Task Force 3 represents the strength of regional cooperation and the commitment of our first responders to help communities in their greatest time of need. These members are highly trained and prepared to operate in challenging swift-water and flood conditions. We are proud of their willingness to serve, and we ask everyone to keep them, their families, and the affected Texas communities in their thoughts during this deployment.”

These crews will be providing specialized efforts to assist with swift-water rescue, urban search and rescue, disaster response, and other complex emergency operations.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration for 59 counties in Texas.
