57 year-old Jerry Jackson had this sentence handed down in Caddo District Court during his retrial. The life-sentence was for second degree murder, and the 40 years for manslaughter will be served consecutively.

Back in 2016 Jackson, during some kind of altercation, shot and killed his own stepson. Following this shooting Jackson, then shot and killed Michael Dillard, a neighbor to his wife, who witnessed that whole situation. After shooting and killing the two men, Jackson passed the murder weapon (.22 caliber rifle) off to a friend to hide the evidence.

The friend went along with Jackson, but after he was gone, the friend called CPSO and told them what happened. Shreveport Police were notified and they were able to match the evidence on the scene to the murder weapon. Jackson's wife testified in court that she saw the whole thing, and Jackson was the shooter.

Jackson has begun his sentence in Caddo Correctional Center.
