Mayor Promises Round-the-clock Effort To Fix Water Crisis
Shreveport's water troubles are causing problems across the city. Mayor Tom Arceneaux has announced it could be several days before the repairs are made.
A major break in a line at the water plant is the cause of the problem. Arceneaux says the break is in a 42" main inside the water plant. He also says it is under water which has made it very difficult to get to the problem.

Arceneaux says he knows this is an inconvenience and he apologizes for the inconvenience. He says they have put in place an "all hands on deck" response to this. He says teams are working 24 hours a day and will continue to do that until this is solved.
The hardest hit neighborhoods are in west and central Shreveport.
During a visit to a doctors office today, I headed for the restroom and was told I would have to go outside to a porta potty. Yes, this is happening at some doctors offices in town.
I also spotted signs popping up at some fast food restaurants saying they were closing because of the water troubles.
The city is planning to reroute the water flow around the break to get water flowing again. But that will take several days. The Mayor says he hopes to have this done by Friday. But a voluntary boil advisory will likely be in place through the weekend.
