SHREVEPORT, LA- DWI checkpoint announcement

In their efforts to reduce motor vehicle fatalities, the Shreveport Police Department will conduct a DWI checkpoint in east Shreveport beginning tomorrow night.

The checkpoint will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Friday March 22, 2024, and end at 4:00 a.m. Saturday March 23, 2024. The checkpoint is part of a collaborative effort between Shreveport Police, Louisiana State Police, and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies to emphasize our commitment to making our city streets safe for travel.

Vehicles that enter the checkpoint will be briefly stopped by officers. This checkpoint is designed to identify drivers who may be operating a vehicle while impaired but is not limited to that offense. Shreveport Police will deploy the “BAT Mobile” for this operation.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission as part of the continuing effort to help curb the number of impaired drivers who take to the streets each year in our community.
