Shreveport Police and Fire to Conduct Mock Crash
Local first responders want to give high school students and their parents a sobering reminder of what can happen if someone is unsafe behind the wheel during prom season with a mock crash.
On Tuesday April 18th, 2017, the Shreveport Police Department will partner with other local law enforcement agencies and local businesses to host their 3rd annual Operation Prom Night. The event will be held at 9:30 am at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy High School at 2550 Thomas E Howard Drive in north Shreveport.
The mock crash aims to send a hard-hitting reminder of the consequences of unsafe driving such as, drinking and driving, texting and driving, distracted driving, and not wearing a seat belt. The mock crash uses actual crashed vehicles in the scenario, and utilizes student participants to dramatically act out the roles of crash victims. Students will watch as first responders act out a fatality crash from beginning to end.
