A Shreveport man was shot Monday night after allegedly forcing his way into a residence. On February 8, 2021, just after 11:00 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to the 6500 block of Henderson Street to a home invasion.

Responders located an unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  The male was pronounced dead at the scene. A female victim was also located who had sustained a gunshot injury to the leg. The female was transported to Ochsner LSU Health with a non-life-threatening injury.

Crime Scene Investigators arrived to the scene and started their investigation. Investigators collected evidence and interviewed multiple witnesses. The preliminary investigation determined that the male, who was shot, forced his way into the residence while armed with a gun. He then fired multiple shots into the residence hitting a female in the leg. The homeowner was able to return fire in self-defense and struck the man in the upper body.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the homeowner has not been charged. The man who forced his way in the house has been identified as Nikolas A. Mason, 23, of the 800 block of Chambers Drive. Mason died just before 11 p.m. at the scene of the incident in the 6500 block of Henderson Avenue. He was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

The Shreveport Police Department Won't Be Responding To These Calls Anymore
