Shreveport Police Arrest Man Following Violent Home Invasion
A terrifying situation last week leads to an arrest.
Last Wednesday night Shreveport Police got a call from a scared woman pleading them to come to York Street because someone broke in to her house. Police showed up to the house where the frantic woman explained what happened.
The woman told SPD that she was in the bathroom when she heard someone at her front door. Before she could leave the bathroom a man named James Sweeney kicked her door down and began searching through the house.
When Sweeney found the woman in the bathroom, he pulled a gun and fired one shot after screaming that he was going to kill her. Sweeney thankfully left the scene after firing the shot.
On Friday, SPD was able to find Sweeny to ask him about the incident. After some investigating, Police were able to arrest Sweeney and charge him with one count of home invasion and one count of illegal use of a weapon.
