Shooting In Shreveport Leads to Death of a Teen Girl

The Shreveport Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on May 20, 2024. At approximately 1:40 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 2500 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a confrontation between two armed individuals had escalated into a shooting. An 18-year-old female was found suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds, and a 19-year-old female sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 18-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Patrol officers on the scene detained the individual identified as the shooter. Detectives from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit immediately commenced an extensive investigation into the incident.

At this stage, no arrests have been made. The case remains under active investigation. The Shreveport Police Department is committed to working diligently with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate course of action as the investigation progresses.
