Shreveport Man Killed In Sunday Dispute
A Shreveport man died Sunday after being shot during a dispute. On Sunday, February 21, 2021, at around 10:30 a.m., Shreveport Police responded to Dee Street at Pier Landing Apartments relative to a shooting. Officers located an adult male who had been shot multiple times in the upper body. The victim, Ronnie M. Claiborne, 29, of the 3700 block of Richmond Avenue in Shreveport, was transported to Ochsner LSU where he later died from his injuries. Officers also detained an adult male suspect who was on the scene.
Violent Crimes and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. Multiple witnesses were interviewed. Information suggested that both the victim and suspect engaged in a heated argument. At some point during the altercation, the victim and suspect both drew guns on one another. The suspect shot the victim multiple times after the victim produced a firearm. At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation is still on-going.
Mr. Claiborne was positively identified through fingerprints by the Shreveport Police Department, which continues to investigate the shooting. Media should contact SPD for further information.
An autopsy has been ordered.
