Members of the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) successfully apprehended a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and narcotics following an investigation at the Royal Inn Motel located at 1906 N. Market St.

VCAT received information indicating that Dennis Morris (DOB: 5/28/1988) was reportedly intimidating residents and pointing a firearm at individuals on the motel premises. During the investigation, VCAT members also uncovered evidence suggesting Morris was engaged in narcotics distribution. With support from the SPD K-9 unit and Shreveport City Marshal Deputies, VCAT executed a search warrant at the location, resulting in the seizure of a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol and various narcotics.

Morris, along with his girlfriend, Doriesha Martin, was taken into custody and transported to SPD Jail for processing. Charges for each suspect are as follows:

· Dennis Morris (DOB: 5/28/1988)

o Possession of Schedule I and Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute

o Illegal carrying of a weapon in conjunction with controlled dangerous substances

o Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

· Doriesha Martin

o Warrants – Shreveport City Marshal’s Office
