
Shreveport Police Targeted Weekend Enforcement Leads to Multiple Domestic Violence Arrests
The Shreveport Police Department conducted a concentrated enforcement wave over the weekend aimed at curbing domestic violence throughout the city. Department officials characterized domestic violence as a "cancer" affecting all segments of society, reiterating their commitment to holding offenders accountable and prioritizing the safety of victims and children.
Multiple Shreveport Suspects Apprehended in Early Weekend Incidents
The enforcement efforts began Friday afternoon and continued through the early hours of Saturday. On January 16, just after 2:00 p.m., officers arrested Joshua Wiggins on one count of Domestic Abuse Battery.
The arrests continued into the early morning of January 17, when Steven Rigsby was taken into custody at approximately 2:40 a.m. for Battery of a Dating Partner.
Later that evening, at 9:20 p.m., Tynell Lloyd was arrested on one count of Battery of a Dating Partner and two counts of Battery of a Dating Partner with Child Endangerment, highlighting incidents that occurred in the presence of minors.
Shortly after, at 9:30 p.m., Jenny Reed was arrested for two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery.
Knife Fight on Buncombe Road Results in Mutual Arrests
On the night of January 18, officers responded to a violent domestic disturbance in the 6700 block of Buncombe Road. Upon arrival, police discovered Courtney Gilliam suffering from a stab wound. Titana Glover was identified at the scene in possession of a knife.
Following a roadside investigation, both parties were arrested. Gilliam was charged with two counts of Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment and one count of Domestic Abuse Battery. Glover was charged with Domestic Abuse Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Final Arrest and Police Call for Prevention
The weekend sweep concluded on January 19 with the arrest of Deandra Sloan, who faces charges of Domestic Abuse Battery and Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment.
In the wake of these arrests, Chief Wayne Smith and the Shreveport Police Department emphasized the critical need for de-escalation and early intervention. Authorities are urging anyone trapped in a cycle of domestic violence to reach out to local advocacy groups, noting that seeking help is a vital step in saving lives.
