Sheriff Steve Prator Talks About His Top Priorities

Caddo Parish Steve Prator easily wins re-election for another term in office. He beat challengers Eric Hatfield, Hersy Jones Jr, and Glenn Cornell.

Prator got 65% while Hatfield pulled in 21%.

This will be Prator's 6th term as Sheriff. He has served in law enforcement for more than 40 years.  We asked him if this was his last run and he said you never know. He says as long as his health is good, he's eager to serve.

He did say one challenge is finding people willing to serve in law enforcement.

Prator also talked about the backlog of prisoners in local jails. He says we must find a way to get this people to trial quicker. He wants to work with the DA and others to look for solutions to this problem.

He also told us he will be getting involved to help find a solution to the problem facing the juvenile jail. He says we must find ways to keep dangerous people off the streets even if they are 17 years old or younger.
