Byrd Student Arrested for Making Bomb Threat on Social Media
What is going on with the kids today in Caddo Parish high schools? Last week alone over twenty were arrested in two separate fighting incidents at Southwood High School.
Then, over the weekend, a threat aimed at Southwood High School, made its rounds on social media and ultimately landed another teen in jail.
And now, we learn from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department, that detectives have arrested another teenager due to a social media threat.
Approximately 3:40 pm yesterday afternoon, both students and staff at Byrd High School alerted the Student Resource Officer, Caddo Sheriff's Deputy Rufus Porter, to a bomb threat made against Byrd High.
Shreveport Fire Department’s Bomb Squad along with Caddo Parish School Board security and CPSO deputies conducted a full extensive sweep of the campus, but no bomb was ever found.
CPSO Cyber Crimes and Youth Services detectives interviewed students and investigated the social media account involved and ultimately arrested a 15-year-old girl who posted the threat using a classmate’s social media account.
She was charged with terrorizing and booked into Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.
