Senator Tarver Sends Attorney General a Request
Another twist in the Red River Waterway Commission saga. Earlier this week, State Attorney General Jeff Landry filed suit claiming two members of the Commission are serving illegally. One of those is Ron Lattier who was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards to serve in an at-large seat. But he was moved to the Caddo seat earlier this year.
Landry claims Lattier was not legally appointed to the Caddo seat and he wants a judge to make that determination. Senator Greg Tarver has responded to this latest legal entanglement.
The suit claims Governor Edwards unlawfully appointed Michael DeVille, a resident of Rapides Parish to the board after the death of Mickey Prestridge. The Caddo Levee District, the Caddo Commission and the Red River Valley Association all nominated Carolyn Prator for that spot. She is the wife of Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator. Some claim the Governor passed her over because of her husband's criticism of the criminal justice reform efforts.
