There are multiple chances to see the International Space Station fly overhead in the coming days.

Thursday, August 1, the space station will be seen for 2 minutes in the night sky. Starting at 10:04 p.m., you can see the ISS appear in the northern sky, then move to the northeast sky.

Saturday, August 3 it will appear in the North-Northwest sky and move to the North-Northeast sky. It’ll be in the night sky from 10:01 p.m. until 10:03 p.m.

But the best chance to see the International Space Station will come on Sunday, August 4th. The I.S.S. will be visible for 4 minutes starting at 9:12 p.m. It will appear in the North sky and move towards the East-Northeast sky.

The International Space Station is moving fast… very fast. It’s booking it at 4.75 miles per second. That’s over 17-thousand miles per hour. It moves so fast that it covers the same point on earth multiple times per day. However sometimes those passes are during the day, so we can’t really see it moving overhead.

However, at night it’s easy to spot. It will look just like a plane at night. The difference though, the light won’t be blinking. Lights on airplanes blink at night, but the I.S.S. won’t be blinking. It’ll be a steady night.

There are other good chances to see the space station next week. Tuesday, August 6, it’ll appear in the night sky for 4 minutes starting at 9:10 p.m. It will appear in the North-Northwest sky and travel towards the East-Southeast sky.
