Louisiana colleges are getting attention for their social scenes, with several schools appearing on Niche’s 2026 Top Party Schools rankings.

Tulane University in New Orleans ranks No. 1 among Louisiana schools and No. 3 overall on the Niche list. The ranking considers student reviews and nightlife statistics, including access to restaurants, bars, entertainment and other social activities.

LSU and Southern University make the top three

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge ranks No. 2 among Louisiana schools, followed by Southern University at No. 3.

New Orleans also has several schools near the top of the Louisiana rankings. Loyola University New Orleans ranks No. 4, while Xavier University of Louisiana comes in at No. 7 and Dillard University ranks No. 9.

UL Lafayette and Grambling also make the list

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette ranks No. 5, while Grambling State University lands at No. 6.

Those rankings put two of Louisiana's largest public universities among the state's colleges recognized for their social and nightlife opportunities.

What makes a top party school?

Niche's ranking isn't simply a list of schools where students party the most. The site combines student feedback with factors related to nightlife and social opportunities.
