Sci-Port Closing for a Week for Creation of Children’s Museum
Sci-Port is getting ready to begin construction on a new children's museum, which will cause the science center to be closed for a week.
Power of Play, or POP, is geared for kids ages 8 and under. It's a 10,000-square-foot, hands-on museum where visitors get to experience a kid-sized version of Shreveport. They can visit community spots like University Helath, Brookshire's grocery store, even a recreation of Shreveport's duck pond.
The new museum will be located in Sci-Port's existing children's area, and most of the exhibits will be relocated during the summer-long construction. POP is expected to open in October 2016.
Sci-Port will close Monday, May 23, through Friday, May 27, and will reopen Saturday, May 28, at 9 a.m.
