Sci-Port in downtown Shreveport will begin the process of reopening to the public today. The Power of Play exhibits on the second floor will be open for exploration starting today.

Next month, on April 7th, the IMAX theater will reopen. The rest of the education center will remain closed for the time being.

Alan Brown, Director of Education and Programming at Sci-Port posted the following statement to Facebook about the status and future of Sci-Port:

We are excited to be able to welcome back our youngest visitors and families to POP later this week. We, the handful of employees who were retained in order to ensure we continue to meet grant obligations, maintain building operations, etc., have missed you all, and we appreciate the support (and patience!) from all of you out there who have missed us, too!

Re-opening this one small section is only the first step in a long process, and POP is not a finished product. It will take patience (and money) to create the experience you deserve, but in the meantime, we are happy to be able to offer a place for you and your kids to engage in the hard work of active play.

Stay Curious!

Alan Brown
Director of Education and Programming.
