Former Sci-Port Discovery Center Finance Director Mike Sledge tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin Mccarty that the downtown children's museum "is dead," and should file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and reorganization.

Sledge tells KEEL listeners that working at Sci-Port "was one of the most unique experiences I've had," and that it "never adjusted its business model to reflect the new realities," adding that "ten years ago it began to struggle." He also describes the financial unraveling of the museum as "a perfect storm of mismanagement" and, as a result, "it was dead" as early as 2011.

Sledge, who went to work at Sci-Port in 2015, says he took the position as finance director of the facility to "give back to the community," and "it was my chance to bring some expertise to an organization that non-profits normally can't get..."
