Praise Temple’s Brandon on Helping Others This Christmas [VIDEO]
Bishop Larry Brandon, minister at Shreveport's Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about his ministry and congregation reaching out and helping others this Christmas season.
Brandon tells KEEL listeners about his "That's My Daddy" initiative, which the bishop explains, "We want dads to be the heroes...in their home. There are some dads who are doing their best, working every day, providing for their family, but there may be a financial struggle" Brandon then tells how church members donate gifts to the fathers, who then give them to their kids for Christmas.
The bishop also talks about providing a Christmas - for many their first - for the young men at his L.L. Brandon III Transitional Home for Boys. The home, which houses and educates a number of area youth who were homeless or from homes where they weren't given adequate care. "It's amazing," says Brandon, describing Christmas at the facility, "Many of them have never been in an environment where there was a Christmas tree. For many of them it's their first Christmas with us, so we want to make this Christmas the best we can for them."
