Popular Local Religious Leader Arrested On Drug Charges
The arrest of a Bossier Parish Pastor sent shock waves through the Ark-La-Tex this week. Andy Harris, the Senior Pastor of The Church of the Cross in Haughton, and was charged with possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Bossier Parish Sheriffs Lt. Bill Davis says Harris was being questioned about a separate investigation, when detectives learned about the drug activity. After learning of the drug use, authorities searched Harris' home, where they turned up meth, smoking devices, and snorting devices.
Davis says the drugs appear to be for personal use, and not part of drug sales.
The Bossier Sheriff’s office will not comment on the separate investigation that lead to the discussion with Harris, and Davis says the drugs do not appear to be related to Harris’s job as a pastor.
Harris has resigned from the church, and was booked at the Bossier Maximum Security facility on 5,000 dollars bail.
