Opening Day at Harrah's Louisiana Downs
This Saturday is the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby and it coincides perfectly with the opening day of racing season at our own Harrah's Louisiana Downs! Get started at 11am with food trucks, a kid zone with free bounce houses, free water slides and face painting for fun on the apron for the entire family! Post time for the first race is 3:15pm and there will be live coverage of the Kentucky Derby. Live racing will run through September on Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Who says you have to limit celebrating Cinco de Mayo to the 5th of May? Get started on the 4th, yep, this Friday from 6-9pm at 1 University Place. The event is all a part of the Louisiana Food Prize with the winning vendor receiving $1,000! Here's how it works... attendees will get to taste tacos and salsa from a variety of Latin restaurants and food vendors from across northwest Louisiana. Each attendee will get a Taco Token to vote on their favorite salsa and may buy tacos individually from each vendor using Taco Tickets! Admission is free for this fun event in conjunction with the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission's Soccer Exhibition Games at LSUS. UPDATE: This event has been moved indoors because of the possibility of rain in the forecast.
It'll be all about that Texas red dirt sound this Friday night at The Stage with Stoney LaRue backed up by Cody Cooke & the Bayou Outlaws! Doors open at 7pm for the 21+ show with tickets starting at just $25. The show gets underway at 8pm, so make sure to get there in plenty of time to eat before the show at the Smokehouse. May we recommend the au gratin potatoes? Yum!
