Residents of Shreveport have concerns about bulk pickup of items that get put out on the curb and sit for weeks. But one of the big problems is that residents aren't following the guidelines for getting the city to pick up the trash and debris.
When Do Shreveport Trucks Pickup Bulk Items
Bulk trash collection operates strictly by appointment on designated service days. Residents must schedule these pickups in advance by calling 318-673-6300 or the "report a concern" portal on the city's website.

Pickups are scheduled for future collection days and are not eligible for same-day or emergency service.
What Are the Rules for Putting Out Bulk Items in Shreveport
You should put your stiff out at least five feet away from any structures, parked vehicles or utility poles. And you should not put the stuff out until 24 hours before your scheduled pickup time.
What Bulk Items Will Shreveport Crews Pickup?
You are limited on how big your pile of debris can be. It must be no larger than 15 ft × 6 ft × 6 ft. Items that can be picked up include household furniture, appliances, up to four tires, and tree or brush trimmings. If you are putting tree limbs out, it can not be larger than 6 feet in length of 8 inches in diameter.
Yard brush may be set out up to seven days before collection.

What Items Will Not Be Picked Up in Shreveport
That list includes construction debris which could be carpets, cabinets, concrete. You also can not put out roots, tree stumps, car parts, gas powered tools, pianos, swing sets or rocks. Trampolines, and swimming pools are also not allowed. And eviction debris is managed separately through City Court rather than Public Works and will not be picked up by sanitation crews.
How Much Do Cities Charge for Bulk Pickup
Many cities have a monthly fee that includes bulk pickup. Bossier City charges $16/month for sanitation services, plus an $8 bulk fee. Monroe charges $15/month per cart. Little Rock residents pay $25 for 2 cubic yards. Dallas charges $40 a month for garbage collection which includes bulk service. Currently Shreveport does not charge a bulk collection fee.
