Authorities in a northern Houston suburb say one person has died and another student was injured in a stabbing incident at a high school in Spring, Texas.

KHOU-TV reports that a 16-year-old student was airlifted to a Houston area hospital for stab wounds.  They also report there were other students injured in the incident.

The incident was reported between 7:15 and 8:15 this morning and the campus had been placed into lockdown.  Parents were told to stay away from the scene while the situation was being settled by authorities.

KHOU reports that students in the school say that one died and five were injured, however that is not an official count from authorities.

No word on what caused the incident, however KHOU reports tweets from students indicate it may have been a fight in the cafeteria.
