Shreveport Opens North Market Police Substation March 5
Police leaders describe the new site as a way to strengthen public safety and bring services closer to North Shreveport. Tours are planned, and the event will also share details about a future Domestic Violence Center that is planned for the site.
The announcement also thanks Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the Shreveport City Council for supporting investments in public safety facilities and equipment.

SPD has already been operating a temporary North Market substation at 3312 North Market Street since March 2025, so the shift to a permanent home will feel familiar to neighbors who have watched patrol activity move back into the area.
The city says the substation sits on land donated by the North Shreveport Business Association.
What it Cost, Based on Public Bid Tabs
Public bid tabs show what contractors offered to build the facilities at bid time. For the North Shreveport Police Substation, the city’s bid tab lists base bids ranging from $1,956,000 to $2,350,860, with the lowest base bid recorded at $1,956,000.
The Other Shreveport Police Substation Locations
The North Market opening is part of SPD’s broader move toward multiple substations.
West Shreveport’s substation is at 5200 Monkhouse Drive, and the city’s bid tab for that project lists the estimated price at $1,500,000.
In southeast Shreveport, the Cedar Grove substation is planned for the corner of West 70th Street and St. Vincent Avenue. Officials have said the lowest construction bid came in at $1,794,000.
