Two Arrested After Shreveport Bus Dispute Escalates into July 10 Shooting
Two people are behind bars following a shooting on Grimmett Drive that began as a verbal argument on a city bus last week, authorities announced.
The Shreveport Police Department confirmed the arrests of Nathan Kelly and Trichelle Arkansas in connection with the July 10, 2026, incident.
Escalation from Bus to Street
The incident unfolded at approximately 4:54 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a shooting near Grimmett Drive and UTE. Upon arrival, police located a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. He was immediately transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators quickly learned that the violence stemmed from a verbal dispute aboard a Shreveport city bus. When the bus driver ordered those involved to exit the vehicle, the argument spilled onto the street and escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, a firearm was produced, and the victim was shot.
Tech and Surveillance ID Suspects
Detectives were able to reconstruct the timeline and identify key players using witness interviews and surveillance footage captured by the Shreveport Police Real Time Crime Center.
According to police, the footage showed Trichelle Arkansas actively participating in the confrontation. Investigators determined that Arkansas handled her boyfriend’s firearm during the fight, brandishing it and pointing it at others involved in the melee.

On July 14, a coordinated effort by the Violent Crimes Unit, V-CAT Unit, Warrants Unit, and the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office led to the execution of search and arrest warrants, bringing Arkansas into custody.
