It was a messy trip this morning to work for many across the Ark-La-Tex.

Severe thunderstorms swept across our area, bringing massive wind gusts and about three inches of rain.

The National Weather Service says the storms came from our west and gained strength as it entered our region.  They say they've heard reports of wind gusts upwards of 50 to 60 miles per hour.  The official recorded wind gust at Shreveport Regional Airport was 45 miles per hour.

Commuters pulled off to the side of major highways to wait out the storm.  Others continued to push their way through the storm.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says I-20 westbound was congested because of flooding between LA 3132 and Pines Road.

There were other reports of street flooding across Shreveport-Bossier.
