Mardi Gras Bead Removal Machines Used to Clear Snow in Nola
A historic winter storm has brought record snowfall to Louisiana. Especially the southern edge of the state, including the Gulf Coast. One of the cities hit the hardest was the state's largest population area, New Orleans.
While there have been some incredible pictures and videos of Bourbon Street and Jackson Square fun, there are also serious impacts to the city. Many roads and bridges have been impassible, while schools and businesses have had to close. The cleanup across the city is underway, but it will be slow.
Since New Orleans (like most Louisiana cities) doesn't have snow removal equipment, they have had to look for help with clearing the roads. Thankfully, Nola is used to having to clean inches of solid debris off the streets on a regular bases. Its just they're more used to the inches being made up of Mardi Gras beads, cups, and other throws...not snow and ice.
But the City has been able to enlist the same partners they rely on to help clear throws from the streets during this winter storm.
The company IV Waste regularly helps the city clear away beads, cups, and throws off the streets during Mardi Gras season. A job they're pretty well equipped for.
During the snow cleanup, IV Waste has been using plows, front-end loaders, Bobcats, and dump trucks to push and clear snow from the roads. Just like they do during Mardi Gras season; and its working perfectly on the snow.
Honestly, the results of the "Mardi Gras bead removal machines" looks JUST LIKE Midwest roads after a snowstorm. They're pushing snow off the roadway, lifting the snowbanks into trucks, and hauling most of it away.
Kudos to New Orleans and IV Waste for putting this plan into action.
