"The Man From Mars", a 15 minute movie about a cynical comedian who finds redemption, is the winner of the 2016 Louisiana Film Prize.
Director Jonnie Stapleton nabs the $50 thousand first prize, plus a film distribution deal with and automatic entry into a number of highly respected festivals across America.
In addition to "Mars", other movies rounding out the festival's top five, were "Native", "Memoir", "Ta Alba" and "The Stand."
The winners were chosen by both judges and audience votes.
This year's Best Actor and Actress awards went to Kemerton Hargrove in "The 30 Year deal" and Frances Watson for "The Importance of Sex Education." The winners, selected by audience vote, each receive $1,000.
