Dirty City Alert! One Louisiana City Lands in America’s Top 30

SHREVEPORT, LA – There is no doubt you have noticed Shreveport is cleaner these days. The city has stepped up the efforts to pick up trash along our highways and in our neighborhoods. And now this clean up initiative is getting noticed.

Only one Louisiana city is listed as one of the top 30 dirties cities in the country. The survey by Lawnstarter.com puts New Orleans as #29 on this list. Shreveport was #11 on this same report a year ago, but now Shreveport checks in at #53. That’s a HUGE improvement.

What Other Louisiana Cities Make the List?

Lake Charles comes in at #64 on the list with Baton Rouge at #107. Lafayette is #117.

10 – Baytown, TX

Beaumont and Brownsville Texas land in the top 25 dirty city list with El Paso at #26.

This list puts Dallas at #46. So, if you believe this report, Shreveport is cleaner that Dallas.

I’d say we are making progress and someone is noticing.

How Were the Cities Compared?

Lawnstarter checked out public data for pollution, living conditions, infrastructure, and consumer satisfaction. They then put together weighted scores for each city.

Cigarette butts are the biggest bits of trash on our roadways, but plastic bottles are also a big problem.

What Cities Are the Cleanest?

Wilmington, North Carolina, Pleasanton, California, Redwood City, California, Duluth, Minnesota and Lynchburg, Virginia are listed as the least dirty cities.
