Celebrations took an abrupt turn for dozens of Mardi Gras float riders durin a parade over the weekend. While crowds were looking for throws, a specific float was found completely emptied before the route was even finished.

Law enforcement stepped in when riders were accused of using throws as projectile weapons, rather than gifts. It seems the festive spirit vanished when the throws started moving with too much heat toward the wrong targets.

Investigation Into Parade Conduct

The incident reportedly involved over 40 riders who were forced to stop, leave their float positions mid-route, and watch their float end the route empty. Witnesses watched as the Krewe of Carrollton float was sidelined following allegations of aggressive behavior during the New Orleans festivities.

Police stated that the riders were intentionally targeting officers that were stationed along the parade route with beads. But not in a friendly "thank you for your service" type way...the riders are accused of throwing at officers in an attempt to harm them. This led to a full ejection of everyone on board that specific unit to ensure the safety of the remaining spectators and staff...

Consequences For Local Participants

The Krewe of Carrollton has already begun an internal review to determine exactly who was launching the items. Leadership for the Krewe mentioned that any members found responsible for the hostility could face permanent expulsion.

In addition to being removed from the Krewe now, those involved may be banned from participating in future sanctioned events. Authorities are working with the parade organizers to identify individuals through video footage captured during the route.
