The Major League Baseball season has just passed the mid-way point of the season. The All-Star game is on the horizon...and so is the MLB trade deadline. Contenders will be aggressive on the market to try and win a championship. Struggling teams will look to build towards the future. It's always a fun, stressful, and exciting time in the season.

And this year, there's a LOT of rumors swirling around Bossier City native and Centenary grad Seth Lugo.

Could Bossier City's Seth Lugo Be on the Move?

Seth Lugo made Shreveport-Bossier proud last season. He finished 2nd in the American League Cy Young race to Tarik Skubal. He made the All-Star team for the first time in his career. Overall, Seth proved he could be a frontline starter for any team in baseball.

Unfortunately for Seth, this year, it's not looking like the Royals are going to be playoff contenders. They're currently under .500, 4.5 games out of a playoff spot and 13.5 games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central.

What does that all mean? It means that there's a good chance that the Royals will be sellers at the trade deadline and that Seth is a prime trade target. He's having another solid year, every team could use another high quality starter and it doesn't make much sense for the Royals to hold onto a $45 million pitcher during a losing season.

Possible Landing Spots for Bossier City Ace Seth Lugo

Again, on the open market, Seth Lugo will be a hot commodity. He has an elite level 2.74 ERA on the year and has been just as good this year as last year. And, there's a lot of contending teams that could use a pitcher like him to help them in their pursuit of a World Series championship.

According to numerous reports online, there is a lot of smoke to the rumors of Seth getting moved by the deadline. The Cubs, Blue Jays, and Mets all reportedly have interest in the All-Star pitcher.

For me, the Cubs and Mets make the most sense out of the rumored teams. The Cubs are probably one really good starter away from being a real threat in the National League.

The Mets spent a lot of money over the last few years, but the one area they lack depth is on the starting pitching front. Plus, that's where Seth was drafted and played for 7 years. So, it addresses a need and is a reunion with a player you can trust to be a positive influence in the locker room.
