Today is election day in 37 parishes across Louisiana. Secretary of State Tom Schedler is encouraging voters to get out and cast your ballot. He says most of the elections are local in nature, but there are some key races on the ballot.

Bossier Parish voters will select a man to serve in the State House District 8 spot. The candidates are Raymond Crews, Robbie Gatti, Jr., Patrick J. Harrington, and Duke Lowrie. All four are republicans. They are vying to replace Mike Johnson in the State House. Johnson was elected to Congress.

Schedler says severe weather could affect voter turnout in some parts of the state.

The polls are open until 8pm tonight.
