According to an audit conducted by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, Caddo Commissioners are getting retirement benefits they don't deserve. The Louisiana Constitution states appointed officials are considered part time public servants and can not participate in any public retirement system.

Currently, Commissioners are getting a 16.75 percent match on their retirement accounts and that money is coming from Caddo Parish tax payers.

The audit stems from a lawsuit filled by political analyst Elliott Stonecipher who wants to stop commissioners from receiving further benefits and the money returned to tax payers.

In a statement, Caddo Parish Commission Administrator Dr. Woody Wilson said, "Caddo Parish is appreciative of the Legislative Auditor’s report and anticipates complying with the auditor’s suggestions which continue to be pertinent after the litigation regarding these matters has concluded."

A court date for the suit has yet to be scheduled.
