There is good news and bad news regarding the road construction project at I-220 and I-20 near Louisiana Downs, going into the East Reservation of Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City.

The good news is that they are making steady progress. It's easy to see they've come a long way in essentially a short time.

The bad news. They have reached a stage in the construction process, where once again, they are going to have to make a number of us have to detour; thankfully though, this time around it's only for one night.

Tomorrow night, September 7, 2021, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the interchange will be closed beginning at 7:00 pm until 6:00 am, Wednesday morning, September 8.

The plan is to do this necessary bridge construction work in these hours in an effort  to minimize the impact to the traveling public.

The ramp will be reopened by 6:00 am.

Of course, this work will be done provided we have good weather and that all other associated projects are running as scheduled.

Safety reminder: DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
