50 Cent’s Shreveport Festival Moves Venues

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been in town reviewing the plans and checking out the sites for this massive event. He is planning to bring in several events as part of this weekend of celebrations.

But the massive music and comedy events planned for Thursday August 8 and Saturday August 11 at Independence Stadium are reportedly being moved to the Municipal Auditorium.

KEEL News has learned from several sources a change is in the works and an official announcement is expected soon. One of our sources says he heard about the change of venue directly from Jackson.

Independence Stadium can seat as between 35,000 to 40,000 people and Jackson was hoping to have even more than that with seating on the field. But we have learned ticket sales have been slow. We hear people talk about this in Shreveport all the time. We are a walk up town. Folks here are not good about buying tickets ahead of time.

That could be the primary reason this event is being moved to the smaller venue. Municipal Auditorium seats about 4,000. We understand the shows might even be streamed to the audience inside the soon to be constructed domed structure that will be going up in downtown Shreveport.

How Many Tickets Have Been Sold?

Sources tell us only 8,000 tickets have been sold for the event so far. Click here if you want to buy tickets to this event.

But we also know a private fundraising event was held this week to raise money to pay for tickets for folks who can not afford to buy a ticket. We are not sure yet how those tickets will be distributed.
