Easy Way to Get a Passport in North Louisiana
SHREVEPORT, LA - Spring break travel is right around the corner and before you know it, summer will be here. If you are thinking about taking a nice vacation, you might think about getting your passport renewed. Or if you have never had a passport, here's your chance to get one with a little help from House Speaker Mike Johnson.

We all have talked to friends who have had a passport emergency. I know my passport was literally snacked on by my dog just two weeks before a vacation to Ireland. Often we have to call in help from our Congressman or U.S. Senators to try to expedite the process. They are very good at helping.
What Is a Passport Fair?
But this is pretty cool. Speaker Johnson's office is hosting a passport fair for
for all Louisiana residents hoping to either renew or acquire a passport. Any Louisianian with upcoming plans to travel outside of the country is encouraged to attend to try to prevent future passport emergencies. Speaker Johnson’s representatives will team up with the Bossier Clerk of Court for this event.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Passport?
This passport fair is being hosted now because during the busy season, it often takes 10-12 weeks to get a passport. You can expect there will be a backlog of applications this summer. During the summer of 2023, the U.S. State Department received 400,000-500,000 new passport applications every week.
