James Harper, Randall Liles and Danny McCormick, candidates for the open seat to represent State House District 1, talk with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about their backgrounds and qualifications, the campaign and respective visions for the state.

In Part 1, the three Republicans discuss what separates them from their GOP counterparts. They then give their positions on a gas tax increase for Louisiana, the , building of the oft-delayed I-49 Inner City Connector, a minimum wage increase at the state level and Governor John Bel Edwards' controversial handling of the Industrial Tax Exemption Program.

In Part 2, the three discuss the problems - and solutions - of bringing business and industry to the state, a more educated work force and how to involve their communities over government in solving those problems.

The election for House District 1 will take place on Saturday, October 12. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote, the top two candidates will face each other in a run-off election on November 16.
