Gov’s Aide: Possible Stay-at-Home Overturn is a ‘Distraction’ [VIDEO]
Mark Cooper, Chief of Staff for Governor John Bel Edwards, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about a legislative petition that, if passed, would overrule the Governor's COVID 19 emergency declaration and the amount of federal funds coming to the state and how it will be distributed.
Cooper describes the legislative petition, authored by Rep. Alan Seabaugh, "a distraction."
Referring to the petition, which, if passed, would overrule Edwards' stay-at-home order, Cooper adds, "What we're hearing from legislators is, 'We're not taking it seriously.'"
The Bossier City native also addresses accusations by Seabaugh that the Governor lied to Republican legislators when talking about the time frame to reopen the Louisiana economy. Earlier this week Edwards extended his emergency for the state to May 15. This came despite much speculation that JBE would end his quarantine order May 1.
