Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards will be facing Republican challenger Eddie Rispone in a November runoff election. Governor Edwards fell short of the 50%+ needed to secure an outright win in tonight's primary race.

The big race ended up being between conservative challengers Rispone and Ralph Abraham, who were looking to secure the second spot opposite Edwards in the runoff. The Associated Press ended up calling the race for Edwards and Rispone just after 10pm.

In the 2015 Gubernatorial election, Edwards emerged from the primary election alongside David Vitter, defeating challengers Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle.

In Bossier Parish Edwards earned 30% of the vote tonight, while Rispone had 38% of the vote. Republican Ralph Abraham also had 30% of the vote.

Caddo Parish had more than 50% of their vote going for Edwards, with about 24% of the vote in favor of Rispone.

De Soto Parish gave 41% of their vote to Edwards, with 34% going to Rispone.

Webster Parish was a toss up between Rispone and Edwards, with 38% of the vote going for Rispone and 37% for Edwards.
