Governor John Bel Edwards says there are several housing options to help flood victims displaced because of flooding.

Thousands of residents are still bunking with family members or staying in shelters or hotels. Edwards unveiled three plans to help house families displaced by the floods.

Piles of debris lines streets across South Louisiana as folks continue to clean up and rebuild.

More than 100 thousand homes were impacted by the floods statewide. Now, there are FEMA housing assistance options.

The governor wants to make it clear FEMA won't be using the old trailers distributed after Hurricane Katrina. Instead, he said they are manufactured homes and property owners must have damage in excess of $17,000 to qualify for a mobile home.

“This program seeks to very quickly to get people back into their homes,” said Edwards. “That’s where our people want to be. They want their kids going back to their schools and they want to live in their neighborhoods, their communities and they want to attend their church.”
