According to the Louisiana Radio Network, Governor Bobby Jindal has indicated he will sign legislation that could close several of the state's abortion clinics.

The House voted 88-5 to send the bill by Rep. Katrina Jackson to the desk of Gov. Bobby Jindal. The Republican governor supports the proposal and intends to sign it into law.

Jackson called the measure "one of the pieces of legislation that will be most impactful to this state regarding the pro-life movement."

Abortion-rights supporters say doctors who provide the procedure will have a tough time getting hospital privileges due to the attention they could draw. Proponents say that that the measure will ensure women have access to proper care if they have complications from an abortion, describing possible medical problems like hemorrhages, cervical injuries and infections.
