Mother nature might not cooperate this weekend for the Krewe of Gemini parade. There's a pretty good chance of thunderstorms Saturday evening. Some of the storms could move in during the afternoon hours.

Who Will Be Making the Decision about a Parade Change

Shreveport leaders and Krewe leaders are closely monitoring the storm system that is headed for north Louisiana. But it could disrupt the Krewe of Gemini XXXVII parade scheduled for Saturday, February 14. The parade is scheduled to roll at 3pm, but that might be adjusted to an earlier time to wrap things up before the strong storms arrive.

The Forecast: A Race Against the Rain

The current forecast for Saturday warns of a significant weather front moving into the ArkLaTex region during the late afternoon and evening hours. While the morning is expected to stay dry with temps climbing to near 65°. The chance of heavy rain and storms is close to 90% for Saturday after 5:00 PM.

What Are the Possible Options for Gemini Parade

Mayor Tom Arceneaux tells KEEL News an earlier start time is a possibility. But he says no final decision will be made until his leadership team meets the Krewe leaders on Thursday afternoon.

A start time at noon or 1pm would likely give the Krewe plenty of time to complete the route before the strong storms arrive. The Mayor did tell us that moving the parade to Sunday to roll behind the Krewe of Highland is NOT an option. He says the Highland parade is already way to long and almost catches up with itself.
