Lawmakers in Louisiana will consider making changes that could expand gambling.

If these measures are approved, casinos could move onto land and gambling space could also grow.

Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Jones talks with KEEL about these proposed changes.

The ideas have been recommended by a task force that has been studying ways to keep the riverboat gambling industry viable in Louisiana.

There are 15 riverboat casinos in the state. One of the proposed changes would let the casinos move to within 1200 feet of where the boats currently operate. The other change would do away with the 30,000 square foot limit and instead base the size of the gambling space on the number of machines allowed.
