Shreveport police have confirmed that a body was found inside a burning home, and they will be investigating it as a homicide and arson.

Early Monday morning, over twenty fire units were called to the 9000 block of Woolworth Road to battle a house fire. When firefighters arrived on scene just before 6:00 am, they discovered a man's body in the back of the house near the fire. While the man's body was not damaged by the fire, police say that it is obvious the man suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.

KSLA reports that video surveillance cameras were being used at the house, and that police are now in the process of finding and investigating any footage.

The fire happened just north of Walnut Hill, and parents of school kids in the area are advised that school bus delays are possible this afternoon due to road closures for this active investigation.

The identity and age of the man's body found inside the home is unknown at this time. Stay tuned to 710 KEEL for updates.
