Fiery Crash on I-49 Leaves One Driver Injured
Two vehicles went up in flames after a wreck on I-49 this morning, but one driver suffered only minor injuries.
Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says the accident happened at around 9:45 a.m. in the southbound lane of the interstate near the Caddo-DeSoto Parish line.
A Caddo Sheriff's auxiliary deputy was redirecting traffic from another accident, when a Ford Fusion crashed into the back of his car, which had its emergency lights activated at the time. Both vehicles caught fire, leaving them totaled.
The Fusion's driver, 55-year-old Eddie Wilkerson of Shreveport, suffered minor injuries. Auxiliary Deputy Dennis Willingham wasn't hurt.
The crash remains under investigation by the CPSO Traffic Safety Unit.
