On November 24, at approximately 1:20 p.m., law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 20 at Monkhouse Drive. During the stop, officers contacted Derrick Pipkins, 31 years of age.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Pipkins was in possession of illegal narcotics and a firearm. It was found that he was prohibited from owning a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.

Derrick Pipkins was promptly arrested and is now facing charges, including one count of possession with intent to distribute Schedule One narcotics, one count of illegal possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, one count of drug paraphernalia, and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
