SHREVEPORT, La. – When is the last time you have pulled in to a fast food restaurant in Louisiana? If you have visited one in the past couple of years you have probably noticed something that has been a problem since we got out of the pandemic.

I often notice signs on these businesses looking for workers. But the one thing I notice more than anything else is much slower service. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes to get through a drive-thru for lunch these days. And many days, it’s much longer than that.

This got me wondering what’s going on? And it’s pretty clear. The businesses are struggling to find and keep good workers. The competition for workers is huge in Shreveport Bossier. The Amazon Fulfillment Center opened last year offering starting pay at $17 dollars an hour. And just a few weeks ago, the brand new LIVE Casino opened in Bossier with hundreds of jobs for all kinds of workers.

Fast food businesses are struggling to keep a full staff on the team. Many have had to boost pay as one way to attract and keep workers. But it is apparently still not enough for many of these places.
