Behind the Scenes Amazon Shreveport VIP Tour
Amazon recently held a huge celebratory Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their new Fulfillment Center in Shreveport. The fulfillment center has been a long time coming to Shreveport, with many wondering whether or not it would actually happen. Amazon proved them wrong last week by opening their new, state-of-the-art facility.
Amazon’s new state-of-the-art robotics fulfillment center in Shreveport will have the capability to process hundreds of thousands of customers orders every day. SHV1 will include advanced technology that enhances safety for employees.
Amazon Shreveport Facts
⦁ SHV1 houses 23 Miles of conveyance
⦁ Can hold as much as 40 million items in storage
⦁ You can reach the moon and back with the electrical wiring in the building
⦁ Be on the lookout for the 1,400 Pegasus and Hercules drives
What This Facility Does
⦁ SHV1 is considered our “first mile” network, meaning it’s the first point for your package in the flow of materials within the supply chain before it’s passed along to our “middle mile” centers then a delivery service provider to be dropped off at your doorstep.
⦁ At SHV1, employees will pick, pack, and ship items including, but not limited to books, toys, housewares, and electronics.
⦁ When you press “Buy Now” – that order starts at a facility like the Shreveport fulfillment center.
⦁ The facility has 5 floors is more than 2.5 million square feet, which is about the equivalent of about 50 football fields.
⦁ One million items will pass through this facility each day.
⦁ SHV1 is the second Amazon Robotics fulfillment center to open in Louisiana this year.

⦁ Starting pay for SHV1 employees will be $18.50/hour.

Amazon’s Footprint in Louisiana
The Shreveport facility isn't the only Amazon property in Louisiana. In addition to the Fulfillment Center, Amazon is also planning a second Shreveport facility called "The Last Mile" facility, that will have delivery trucks to service the local area. Other Louisiana properties include:
